The Writing Center at Bellevue University is a place where students, faculty, staff, and writing consultants dialogue about writing. We believe in the development of writers across disciplines and from varied language contexts. We collaborate through one-on-one sessions and workshops.

The Writing Center offers many forms of writing assistance, including brainstorming, idea development, organization, expository strategies, style, voice, academic conventions, documentation styles (citations) such as APA and MLA, and readability (grammar and mechanics).

Writing Center Introduction & Overview

Our goal is to help you become a stronger writer.

Bellevue University's Writing Center staff meet you where you are—at any stage of the writing process and regardless of discipline or presumed level of writing. We recognize that there are many ways to communicate, and we help writers make rhetorical choices that both consider the context in which they are writing and respect their own use of language(s).

To schedule a Writing Center appointment, log in to BRUIN Connect, select Academic Support Appointments (Writing Center & Peer Tutoring), and then select the Writing Center schedule.

Schedule an Appointment

Students can receive assistance with their writing from a consultant in one of three ways: Face-to-Face, Videoconference (Zoom), and Online Review.

Face-to-Face Appointment

Face-to-Face tutoring allows you to be physically present while receiving help or feedback from a consultant on Bellevue University’s main campus.

Videoconference (Zoom) Appointments

Videoconference (Zoom) tutoring allows you to meet with a consultant to discuss coursework and drafts online via webcam and audio connections, using a Zoom link the consultant will share before starting the session.

Online Review Appointments

Online Reviews allow you to receive feedback but without the need to be present or available for the appointment time. You will submit work/files online before the start of your scheduled appointment time. The consultant then downloads and adds feedback comments to your document(s) at or near that scheduled consultation time. Later, you can log in again and download the consultant’s updated file(s) with feedback.

Cancellations

Please cancel your appointment prior to the scheduled time if you know or find you will not be able to keep the appointment. To do so, click on your scheduled appointment. In the pop-up window that appears, scroll to the bottom and click on the red box to the right that says “cancel appointment.” If you are unable to do this, you may call us at 1.402.557.5499.

*Note: We are located in the back of the Library. If you need help finding us, you can ask one of the Library staff members to point you in the direction of the Library Learning Commons.
