Temporary Medical Impairment Accommodations

You may be eligible to receive temporary medical impairment accommodations if you experience any of these medical impairments:

A non-disability related, unexpected short-term injury, surgery, hospitalization, or medical condition that prevents you from participating in class for two weeks or less.

The impairment itself may last for more than two weeks. However, you cannot be absent from a class for more than two weeks.

Classroom accommodations are available to you to reduce the impact of limitations created by the medical conditions mentioned above.

Unlike ADA accommodations:

  • Temporary medical impairment accommodations are at the discretion of individual instructors.
  • The Accommodations Resource Center will make recommendations for appropriate and reasonable accommodations based on the documentation provided, however, it will ultimately be up to your instructor to determine if the recommendations will be allowed.

If you miss more than two weeks of a term due to a medical condition, you should contact your student coach regarding a medical hardship withdrawal.
