This 12-hour general education certificate of completion will equip students in a variety of disciplines with an understanding of how AI works as well as the analytical tools to evaluate the strengths and limitations of AI technologies, including issues of bias, misinformation, ethical use, and data privacy. Courses offer practical, workplace-relevant experience in using AI for communication, productivity, and decision-making, while fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility. In this course, students will explore the transformative field of Generative AI, with a particular focus on ChatGPT and other advanced language models. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience, participants will gain a deep understanding of how these models work, their applications, and how to leverage them for various tasks.
This course equips students with practical skills in prompt engineering - the art and science of effectively communicating with Generative AI systems to achieve desired outcomes. Through weekly hands-on exercises and a final project, students will develop real-world applicable skills for leveraging Generative AI tools across various personal and professional contexts. The course emphasizes learning through practice that builds competency in crafting precise prompts, controlling Generative AI outputs, and implementing ethical guidelines. Students will also explore responsible use principles and security considerations when integrating Generative AI into workflows. Students will leave the class with immediately applicable skills that enhance productivity and problem-solving capabilities in any field where Generative AI is utilized.
