When should I schedule a tutoring session?
Tutoring is the most effective when started at the beginning of the term.
How do I make an appointment?
To schedule a tutoring session, simply log in to your BRUIN Connect account and access the “Academic Support” chicklet. See illustrated directions for making an appointment.
What should I do prior to meeting with a tutor to ensure I’m able to get the most out of the session?
- Attend class
- Take notes during class lecture
- Read assigned material
- Try homework problems
- Bring relevant material
What happens during a tutoring session?
You’ll actively participate in the session by:
- Taking notes during the session to refer to later
- Asking questions for clarification
- Practicing concepts
- Demonstrating your understanding of the content
How often can I use tutoring services?
You may schedule as many tutoring sessions as you need.
How long is a tutoring session?
Sessions can be scheduled for either 30 or 60 minutes.
Can I schedule a tutoring session for longer than an hour?
Sessions are limited to one hour to encourage independent practice between meetings.
Can I have a set weekly appointment?
Sessions can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
What options are available to online students?
Online learners can meet tutors via Zoom.
What if there are no tutors available when I need help?
If your course is not on the Peer Tutor Availability list or you need additional scheduling options, submit a tutor request form.
Will my instructor be notified I met with a tutor?
Unless a student requests it, instructors are not notified which students have utilized tutoring services.
My classmate is also a tutor. Can my classmate help me with my homework?
A classmate who is also a tutor cannot assist you in the capacity of a tutor. Bellevue University tutors already have passed the class and they have met the requirements to become a tutor.
How do I become a tutor?
