Optional Practical Training (OPT) Student Update

Complete and submit this form to report updates to employer information during your Optional Practical Training (OPT) authorization period. It is required by law that F-1 students on OPT report changes within 10 calendar days of the change (see 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(f)(12)(i)).

If the below update is for STEM OPT employment, reporting is not complete until international Student Services (ISS) has received all required I-983 updates (a new I-983 for new employers and/or the final evaluation on page 5 of the I-983 for ending employment).

Please provide a short statement that indicates how the employment is related to your BU major. This statement must include: your job title, employer name, your BU major, whether the work is part time (less than 20 hours per week) or full time (20 hours or more per week), and a brief explanation of how the job is directly related to your BU major. You should describe your regular duties and the relation between those duties and your BU major. Please be specific. This description is required and will be reported to the government. Sample Explanation: "Bachelor's degree in **(list your BU degree)**: I work **part time/full time)** as **job title** at **company name**. In my job, I **include specific job duties**. [include a brief explanation of how this relates to your major]"
