Declaring a Minor

Declaring a Minor: Traditional Programs

Bellevue University makes the academic minor available to enrich a student's educational focus. A minor is a recognized group of courses in a specific discipline that enhances general learning, complements the student's major, or improves the prospects for employment.

Selection of a minor is not a graduation requirement. It should be arranged in consultation with a faculty advisor from the appropriate area of study. Minors typically require between 18 and 24 credit hours to complete. All minors require a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 and nine upper-division credit hours and three courses (nine credits) in residence at Bellevue University. Six of the residence credit hours must be upper-level courses.

Declaring a Minor: Accelerated Programs

A minor may be earned by a student who has completed or is near completion of an accelerated major and has been recommended by the dean of the appropriate college.

The minor consists of 18 to 24 credits in courses, which form a program of study in an area, which augments a student's major. Credits earned for the minor will apply toward the elective area and count toward graduation. All minor requirements must be earned in residence. Online courses are considered in-residence.
