Management Information Systems (B.S.)

The Management Information Systems (M.I.S.) program is offered in the accelerated, cohort-based format. The curriculum emphasizes the business knowledge, values, decision-making abilities, and management skills for individuals working in the managment informations systems field. The program is designed for individuals who have a computer technology background and wish to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. The program is offered in the classroom and online.

Management Information Systems (B.S.) (127 credit hours)

Prerequisite Coursework:
Bachelor of Science in M.I.S. degree applicants should have a computer programming degree approved for the program. Applicants who do not have an A.A.S. degree approved for the program, or an equivalent as determined by the Director of the Center for Infomation Technology, may be admitted with 60 credit hours if they have 27 semester credit hours of courses from the computer curriculum. Within these 27 hours the following course areas must be covered:

  • CIS 101 Computer Concepts and Applications
  • CIS 305 Management and Design Database Systems
  • CIS 320 Object Oriented Technology II-Analysis and Design (Systems Analysis and Design)
  • CIS 340 Business Telecommunications
  • A semester of a high-level computer language (e.g. BASIC, C++, Fortran, COBOL, Pascal)
  • A semester of C language

If a student has completed 21 of the 27 credit hours, the student may be admitted, but must fulfill the remaining computer requirements prior to graduation.
