IT Project Management FAQs
Click a question below to see the answer.
- How much does the program cost?
These courses are offered at the graduate level. The project management courses are the same price as our other course offerings at this level and vary depending on online or face-to-face. Graduate students will complete graduate level assignments and are also required to conduct research in the area of project management.
- Will financial aid pay for the courses?
Unfortunately, financial aid is not available for any type of certificate program; students must be degree-seeking. If you want to complete these certificate courses you will need to do so as part of one of our programs to receive financial aid.
- When are classes offered?
The courses are offered regularly during our standard terms – Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Start dates vary depending on the calendar year. Please visit http://www.bellevue.edu/resources/class-schedule.aspx for our most recent academic calendar.
- Are classes available online?
The classes are offered both online and in the classroom.
- How long does it take to complete the program?
Students are required to take the foundation course first (CIS 633). After that, students can take the remaining 2 required courses together or separately. Depending on course availability students can finish the program in two terms or in three terms by taking one class each term.
- What are the admission requirements?
You can jump right into the program without having to take any other courses. The only requirement is that you take the foundation course, CIS 633 before any of the other courses.
- After taking the courses will I be ready to take the PMP® certification exam?
These courses are designed to provide you with the foundations as well as the ability to apply them in practice. You will be more knowledgeable in project management as well as the principles found in the A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide). However, because the exam requires in depth knowledge of the PMBOK® Guide, it is recommended that you take a PMP® prep course prior to the exam.
- How many credits are these classes worth through PMI?
Each of our project management courses qualifies for 36 PDUs or Contact Hours from PMI. A student can obtain either PDUs or Contact Hours upon course completion. Contact hours work toward a minimum number needed to sit for an exam, while PDUs (Professional Development Units) are used to maintain a certification you have already attained.
- How do I get PDUs from PMI?
To claim your PDUs, go to www.pmi.org. Go to the Certification tab and click on “Maintain your certification: Earn and report PDUS” form the drop down list. There you will see a blue button, “Report PDUs”. Click on it to enter your PDUs.
- Who do I contact to receive my certificate of completion?
Students should contact Traci Henderson by email at traci.henderson@bellevue.edu upon program completion. Traci will be able to verify course completion and provide you with your certificate.
- Who should I contact to enroll?
If you plan to enter Bellevue University as a degree-seeking student and want to apply this program/course toward that degree, you will need to complete our full application for admission and submit an application fee. You will be required to order official transcripts from all previously attended colleges. Click here to apply to Bellevue University.
