Muller's Musings

"The problems we face today cannot be solved
with the same level of thinking that created them."

– Albert Einstein

Bellevue University President John B. Muller, Ph.D.
considers the brainpower it will take to compete in this new century.

Of course we know Albert Einstein was brilliant, but when I put his comment in context of the world today, I would even call him prescient in his wisdom. Indeed in this information age, things are moving so fast, we can't even fathom today the kind of knowledge we'll need to solve the challenges of tomorrow – but we can try.

At Bellevue University we try by staying current and flexible in the learning programs we provide. We pride ourselves in not being tied down to age-old, outdated curricula. We encourage our faculty to reach outside of the comfortable and into the current for course content. We consult with leading professionals and resources in the fields in which we teach. And we make it possible to revise, evolve, and develop new programs readily and efficiently without compromise to quality or standards.

I think this has been a key to our success. We are visionary surveyors of the learning landscape – indeed trailblazers leading the way for those who seek to enact change in their lives and careers, and those who need them.

Today I can tout that we are the largest private university in the state of Nebraska, and in this state we have just established the Bellevue University Human Capital Lab, a place where business and academic leaders will work together to measure the impact of training and development investments. The work of the Lab is hugely important to corporations around the globe as they seek to understand if – and to what extent – their investments in their people (their most important asset) are working. Mike Echols, Ph.D., is heading the Lab as the inaugural director. His credentials to do so are outstanding, as he's written three books on the topic, and was named one of 2007's Most Influential Training Professionals in the U.S. by Training Industry, Inc.

The Lab, and the ongoing practice of making sure all of Bellevue University's learning programs meet the needs of our students and employers, ensures that we're doing our part to anticipate the challenges of the future with bright and brilliant minds...and solutions. Come be a part of it all.
