Bellevue University Professor Brings Home the Gold

Recently, the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) discovered what we at Bellevue University have known all along… our professors are leaders in the field of distance learning. On October 17th, Dr. David Levy, Professor in the College of Business, received the Gold Award for Individual Distance Teaching presented by the USDLA. The award recognized Dr. Levy for the interactivity of his classes, his online design, and student support.

In one of the letters sent to the USDLA in support of Dr. Levy, a former student wrote, “I would like to wholeheartedly support Dr. Levy’s nomination for this award…his individual approach to helping students learn and his constant encouragement made his course one of the best distance learning experiences I’ve had.”

Ten years ago, when Bellevue University began offering degree programs online, the University made the commitment that each student would receive a rich and interactive learning experience, something for which the University was already known. Through the College of Distributed Learning, all of Bellevue University’s online instructors go through a rigorous 6-week training program. They learn how important it is to provide dynamic content online and they are taught to teach online in a way that is engaging, energetic, and effective. After hearing the USDLA had named Dr. Levy the winner of this award, Dr. Mary Hawkins, Bellevue University Provost, said, “By honoring Dr. Levy the USDLA honors the entire University for its commitment to provide our students a rich and interactive learning experience.”
