The Kirkpatrick Signature Series – something no other university offers you.

Bellevue University gives students something no other college or university does – the Kirkpatrick Signature Series – a required series of courses that adds a greater depth and understanding to our students’ educational experience.

Comprised of three core courses, the Signature Series examines America as a model of success, the Western social and philosophical tradition, and freedom and responsibility in our society.

As a Bellevue University student, you take the 9-hour Kirkpatrick Signature Series in addition to your bachelor’s degree requirements. The series includes readings from Western philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato, and from historically important Americans such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Among the many essential documents students examine in depth are the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, selections from The Federalist Papers, and the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Series includes a community civic project chosen by the student.
