A voice of experience:
Cassandra Butler, Director of Graduate Enrollment

Cassandra Butler
Director of Graduate Enrollment
and Master’s of Management Graduate
Cassandra Butler’s firsthand experience as a graduate of Bellevue University helps her understand the students she now serves as Director of Graduate Enrollment. Prior to taking the position, Cassandra earned her Master’s Degree in Management from Bellevue University while working and raising her 13-year-old daughter.

“I work with a wide variety of students with different backgrounds – from those who have been out of school for years, to new bachelor’s degree grads, to international students,” said Cassandra. “They have been in the workforce for a number of years, and bring a wealth of knowledge and relevant experience to the academic setting.”

“Whatever their situation, the students realize that the effort they put into earning their Bellevue University master’s degree will impact their marketability,” noted Cassandra. “Mid-to-senior level management jobs are highly competitive, and I understand the students’ desire to distinguish themselves from their peers. In my position here I feel as if I am directly contributing to each student’s personal and career enrichment,” she added.

Cassandra likes the fact that students have the opportunity to learn from the instructors, and from each other. And, she knows the value of the mental investment the graduate program requires. She put it this way:

“There are few greater feelings than that of completing the program and receiving the recognition that comes with it. As a student, as an employee, and as a person who helps people realize their graduate degree goals, I am very happy to have made Bellevue University such a big part of my life.”

Graduate Student Profile

“With my MBA I gained respect. People listen to me more knowing I have the knowledge.”
– Diva Mejias

“Several of the people who work for me have their master’s degrees. I had the experience to manage in the department, but I still felt something was missing. Then I found Bellevue University. Just one talk with the Enrollment Counselors assured me of their interest in me, my personal situation, and my requirement for the program to be flexible.

“I took my classes online which was great because I learned at my own pace, interacted with the other students and my professor, who was always there for me – going above and beyond.

“Now that I have my degree, I know I’ve gained a degree of respect. People listen to me knowing I have the experience – and the knowledge.

“I recommend Bellevue University’s graduate programs to anyone looking to move up on the job. Rest assured that when you get to my level of management, the one factor that helps in the competition for positions is formal education.

“When people tell me they don’t have time to get their degree, or that it will take so long, I have them think ahead about where they will be anyway in that time period. You’re looking at it as a huge Omaha steak. Look at it as one bite at a time. Take it gradually. One class, two classes. Before you know it, you’ve met a lot of people, it’s an exciting challenge, and you have your degree!

“I’m sorry I didn’t do it sooner!”

Diva Mejias earned her MBA from Bellevue University in June, 2003.
