Bellevue University Partners with Local Universities on National Security Consortium
Bellevue University is partnering with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Creighton University to establish the Great Plains National Security Education Consortium. Bellevue University Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, Donna McDaniel will represent the University on the consortium's management team.
The consortium is part of the Intelligence Community Centers of Academic Excellence program and will provide academic, research, cultural immersion, and outreach activities focused on national security-related topics to students with diverse interests and backgrounds. One central goal of the consortium is to develop students who have the knowledge of international and cultural issues, proficiency in foreign languages and skills in research, analysis and critical thinking, required of professionals employed in the 16 federal agencies that make up the U.S. intelligence community.
Bellevue University offers a variety of graduate and undergraduate Security Management programs, including the largest Security Management program in the nation. Our degree programs are well-respected in the industry, preparing students to be competitive candidates in this growing field. Under the Career Services Initiative, our Career Services Center provides information on career-relevant internship and employment opportunities for students and alumni. Earlier this year, four Bellevue University alumni were chosen by The Department of Defense to participate in its Palace Acquire Internship Program.
As part of the consortium's outreach effort, Bellevue University's Career Services Center will be welcoming a representative from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to our main campus Thursday, October 8th. He will give a presentation entitled What Is It Like to Work in the Intelligence Community at 9:00 am in ESB4202. The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes. Faculty and students who are interested in career opportunities with the CIA are invited to attend. On campus interviews will also take place that day. Please email your resume to kathy.ocasio@bellevue.edu no later than Wednesday, October 7th if you would like to be considered for an interview.
