Bellevue University to Host Cybersecurity Event

As part of national Cyber Security Awareness month in October, Bellevue University and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Foundation serving Nebraska, South Dakota, The Kansas Plains and Southwest Iowa is sponsoring a free Cyber Security Reality Check Summit for businesses located in metro Omaha and metro Lincoln. It will be held in the Criss Auditorium of the Hitchcock Humanities Center at Bellevue University, 1000 Galvin Road South, Bellevue, NE on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 7:30 am – 11:30 am. Included, is a continental breakfast.

This Cyber Security Reality Check Summit will offer a panel discussion on the “Basics of Online Protection” and another on “Detection and Reponses to Cyber Breaches.” There will also be a security breach demonstration where attendees will see, first-hand, how easily their data can be compromised. The keynote address will be delivered by Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning.

“The latest issues are really the same ones we’ve had all along: the basics of Cybersecurity,” said Ron Woerner, Director for Bellevue University’s Cybersecurity programs. “A big draw will be a hacking demonstration to show how easy it is to be fooled by a scammer.”
