Experience China Through Its Language and Culture
Bellevue University, in association with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Confucius Institute, is offering two non-credit courses in Chinese Language and Culture. Each course offers an interactive classroom environment designed for individuals who wish to do business with, travel to, or simply learn more about China.
The 12-week long courses, titled Beginning Chinese I and Chinese Culture I, begin September 1st and 2nd at a cost of $140 per course (books included). Courses will be offered on Bellevue University’s main campus with instruction by Mei Keith, president of the Omaha Chinese Cultural Association.
Beginning Chinese I teaches students basic Chinese language skills that are closely related to their everyday life such as: greeting others or responding to greetings from others; making simple expressions of their basic needs; giving others instructions by using a few words; and making simple requests.
Chinese Culture I offers an exciting glimpse into Chinese culture, history and society. The course is open for anyone who is interested in expanding their knowledge of Chinese culture, history and heritage. Students will participate in hands-on activities related to Chinese customs, virtues, arts, holidays and food.
