Bellevue University Pair Present at Leeds
Findings address personality's impact on report design
Joe Hare, Associate Director of the Human Capital Lab, and Tim Guetterman, Lead Data Analyst at Bellevue University, recently presented their research at the Mixed Methods International Conference, June 18-21, 2012 at the University of Leeds in England.
The team presented its paper, Understanding How Personality Influences Leader's Information Preferences: A Mixed Methods Approach.
"We investigated the relationship between personality and information preferences when leaders are faced with a human capital decision," Hare explained. "Using a mixed methods approach, Tim and I found that personality was related to information behavior and that reports could be designed so they are more easily understood. This is important research for The Human Capital Lab. We have worked through many of the technical challenges related to our measurement projects but to impact the performance of partner organizations we must communicate in a way that helps leaders apply the results."
The University of Leeds was established in the early 1800s as a school of medicine. While occupied with the conference, Hare and Guetterman did take in some of the historic sites.
"The University of Leeds is an accomplished institution on a wonderful campus," Hare said. "Tim and I spent most of our time around the Baines Wing, but in the evening we were able to explore some of Leeds. The history of the area was fascinating. We toured a 1,000-year old abbey that was particularly impressive."
