2 Years and 7000 miles...
One student's path to commencement shows the reach of online learning
Commencement brings graduates from the local community, and across the globe. The June 2011 ceremony showed the dedication of a graduate, who traveled thousands of miles with his wife to celebrate his accomplishment, and meet those who he's worked with over the past few years at the University.
Here is Bellevue University Graduate Mark Blas's story.
Two years ago, Army Master Sergeant Mark Blas of Agana Heights, Guam, discovered the University's online Bachelor of Science in Logistics Management degree program during an online search.
"I wanted more education in logistics management, and Bellevue University was my opportunity," Blas said during the University's Graduation Open House June 3. "I have really benefited from the knowledge gained in the courses. You learn so much from your classmates as well, about the supply chain and management role in logistics at many different levels."
Accompanied by his wife, Army Sergeant Major Irene Blas, who came along to help him celebrate the bachelor's degree he received June 4, Blas said he hopes to pursue a civilian career three years from now after completing 25 years in the Army. In August, he will begin studies on Bellevue University's Master of Business Administration program, with a concentration in Acquisition and Contract Management.
