Celebration of Student Writing and Research Showcases Student Talent
This year's Celebration of Student Writing and Research will be held during the week of May 18-22, 2009. At the celebration, selected student work is presented by the writers/researchers to the Bellevue University community, a nationally known author presents a keynote address, and then invited guests enjoy lunch together.
About this year’s Keynote Speaker
This year, nationally acclaimed novelist, screenplay writer, essayist, and short story writer Ron Hansen will offer the keynote address on Monday, May 18, 2009. For more information about Mr. Hansen and his writing, please visit this website.
The Nebraska native has received the Award in Literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters for Nebraska, a collection of short fiction and his novel Atticus was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1996. Books he has written include Desperadoes (Knopf), The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Knopf), Mariette in Ecstasy (HarperCollins), Atticus (HarperCollins), and a children's book, The Shadowmaker (Trophy Press).

Since the spring of 2007, Bellevue University has showcased the work of its best student writers and researchers with a celebration each year. Faculty members nominate for recognition students who have demonstrated exceptional skill in writing and research.
