Sociology Students attend Minneapolis Conference
Bellevue University Sociology students presented research at the Midwest Sociological Society Conference on Saturday, March 31. The event was held at the Marriot Minneapolis City Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Rohita Gauchan presented research on Domestic Violence, while Valeria Denney presented her paper on Elderly Care for Homebound Persons. Honore Noussoukpoe presented Extramarital Affairs: Sexual Infidelity or Lack of Real Commitment? and Jessica Sampson and Christina Paul collaborated on The Social Impact of Ho Chunk Inc. on Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
Kathleen Cortez presented The Social Political Implications of the D.R.E.A.M. Act and Kevin Carr presented Variations in Magazine Advertising: Are We Being Tricked by Gender Stereotypes? .
Also attending the conference were Bellevue University students Jenea White, Vicky (Ruiqi) Wang and Roshani Maharjan.
"Christina and I did both a poster and a roundtable presentation. It was pretty cool to see so many people come up to us because they were interested in the information on our poster," Sampson said. "I loved seeing all the different presentations. It was also interesting to see what other people are doing with their sociology degrees. I think that is something that more sociology students need to experience."
Professor Fanying Kong sponsored the Bellevue University students at the event.
