Bellevue University hosts Intelligence Community (IC) Scholar Event
Students interested in learning more about the Intelligence Community (IC) Scholar Program are invited to participate in an informational session event featuring 5 analysts from the CIA. Each analyst will be talking about how their expertise relates to the Intelligence Community.
Analysts representing the Intelligence Community during this visit are experienced in the following areas:
- North Korea’s economy
- North and South Korean foreign policy and Chinese affairs
- Russian and European analysis, East Asia, Latin America, and Africa
- White House briefings
- Counterterrorism analysis, illicit finance issues
- Agency training
The goal of the IC Scholar Program is to develop students with the knowledge of international and cultural issues, foreign languages, analysis, and critical thinking skills required to serve the sixteen federal agencies that make up the U.S. Intelligence community.
Students seeking the designation who are interested in pursuing careers in the Intelligence Community must be U.S. citizens and maintain a 3.0 GPA in addition to demonstrating specific competencies. Preparation for graduation as an IC Scholar includes opportunities for funding for study abroad in a non-English speaking country, internship, and familiarization with IC relevant activities. Participation in a cultural immersion experience or demonstrated proficiency in a foreign language is a part of the requirements.
The designation of IC Scholars is a central goal of the Great Plains-National Security Education Consortium (GP-NSEC) of which Bellevue University is a member. The GP-NSEC was selected by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as part of the Intelligence Community Centers of Academic Excellence.
