Work Authorization Information
Severe Economic Hardship
- Student must have been enrolled full-time at Bellevue University on an F-1 visa and must have maintained his or her status for the past academic year.
- Student must be currently enrolled full-time (except for the summer vacation period).
- Student must not be less than full-time the previous semester without previous authorization by a Designated School Official.
- Student must apply through the Designated School Official at Bellevue University and through USCIS.
- Student must not currently be placed on Academic Warning, Probation or Suspension.
- Undergraduate students must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.0 and graduate students must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Requires an application fee to USCIS.
- Applications are available below or in the International Programs Department.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
- Student must have maintained his or her status at Bellevue University for the past academic year.
- Student must apply for OPT through the Designated School Official at Bellevue University and through USCIS at the BEGINNING of the student’s last academic session.
- Student must apply before the last date of the student’s last classes to be eligible.
- Requires an application fee to USCIS.
- Applications are available below or in the International Programs Department.
