International Vocalists Perform for an Unparalleled Event at Bellevue University

On May 22, 2008, Bellevue University was honored to host the performance ensemble Дарё (in English, "River") who traveled all the way from the Republic of Tajikistan in Central Asia.
The group joined the Committee of Television and Radio under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1989. The ensemble consists of 10 professional musicians who play traditional instruments and 12 professional vocalists. For more than 19 years, the ensemble has been functioning under the direction of national performer, Saidqul Bilolov, singer and songwriter and winner of the State Premium of Rudaki. Дарё has presented Tajik musical art to many countries, including France, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Romania, China, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Today, Дарё is considered one of the best professional ensembles in Tajikistan, focusing their talents on playing traditional, national music and songs of Tajik composers.
During the May 22, 2008 performance, Bellevue University welcomed three of Дарё's talented performers: Saidqul Roziqovich Bilolov, Qurbonali Abdulloev and Malika Saidova. Read more about the performers in the Group Bios pdf file.
