Criss Auditorium, HUM202 & the MediaSite Live ® System
Instructional Technology Services
The Criss Auditorium is a state-of-the-art presentation venue. Instructional Technology Services is tasked with ensuring all presentations in the Criss Auditorium are of the highest caliber possible. With this in mind, please contact ITS when you are planning to have an event in the auditorium; they can be extremely helpful. Full training on the use of the podium controls, the lights and the sound system is required and is available upon request.
Auditorium Features
Podium: the auditorium is equipped with a Crestron Touch Screen that allows full control of audio volume and also lighting control. The podium is further equipped with the following:
- Main computer with Internet access
- Connections for a secondary computer, such as a laptop
- Document camera
- CD/DVD player
- VHS/SVHS Tape Deck
- Cable TV
- Telephone
NOTE: All of the above, except the telephone, may be projected onto the auditorium screen and subsequently streamed to the Internet. See MediaSite Live ® below.
Lighting: preset light settings with customization available upon request.
Audio capabilities:
- 4 wireless handheld microphones
- 4 wireless lapel microphones
- Fixed podium microphone
- 1 hard-wired audio input
Video: In-house camera, controlled remotely from the control room by ITS technicians.
Humanities Room 202 (HUM202)
Humanities 202, on the main campus, is designated as the University’s training room. It is equipped with a MediaSite Live® cart with the same capabilities as the Criss Auditorium systems. It also has a computer and overhead projection system. The room is also equipped with wireless handheld and lapel microphones.
MediaSite Live® provides a web communications capability for recording, distributing, archiving and viewing faculty and special event rich media content presentations. It allows for both synchronous and asynchronous web broadcasts. MediaSite provides the capability to record highly detailed lecture material. It can accommodate different kinds of presenters and can record any kind of visual content. MediaSite can be incorporated into a variety of online learning environments and is especially designed for instructor-led presentations.
The MediaSite Live® systems are located in the Humanities Auditorium and the training room, HUM202. A portable system is also available. ITS operates and maintains the MediaSite Live® equipment. To use the system, the auditorium or HUM202 must be reserved via the e-Services link in BRUIN. We do request that when you are reserving the facility, please enter in the Purpose and/or Remarks/Special Requirements sections that you will be using the MediaSite Live® system. Also include the "Title" of your presentation. We will develop and forward a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that may be used to access your presentation online. Please contact ITS for additional information concerning the MediaSite Live® equipment.
