U.S. News and World Report listed Emergency Management Specialist as one of the top 50 careers in 2011, while the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected almost 4,000 new jobs in the field from 2010-2020.

Meet the Program Director - Greg Allen

Incorporating case studies, scenarios, and a capstone project, you'll emerge from this program with an understanding of how to plan and direct disaster response or crisis management activities, provide disaster preparedness training, and prepare emergency plans and procedures. You'll have the knowledge and skills to handle natural and man-made disasters as well as other types of emergencies.

With your Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management you'll be able to pursue a number of employment opportunities including positions at all levels of government including city, county, state, and federal (i.e., FEMA — Federal Emergency Management Agency). Opportunities also exist with local, national, and international voluntary organizations such as the American Red Cross and Peace Corps, and there is increasing emphasis on hiring emergency managers in the business sector.
