Degree Overview
The Computer Information Systems program provides academic breadth and depth with an emphasis in the technology disciplines. The program focuses on
- analyzing technical problems to identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to their solution;
- designing, implementing, evaluating and communicating a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs;
- analyzing the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society;
- demonstrating communication, teamwork, and project-based learning skills necessary to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal.
The program includes foundational Core courses and the choice of an emphasis or elective courses that best suit the student’s educational and career goals. Emphasis options include: Applications Development, Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Networking. The Computer Information Systems program prepares students for a variety of technology career and provides a foundation to pursue graduate studies. The program is mapped to the ACM and ABET standards for model Information Systems undergraduate programs.
