The Master of Science in Emergency Management will prepare you to lead your organization in emergency preparedness. You will gain knowledge and skills in critical areas such as business continuity; ethics; disaster management; resource allocation; and grant writing.
Bellevue University’s degree is unique in that each term focuses on a different theme with one term building off of the other. You will practice and apply your learning to increase your abilities and your confidence. In addition, during each term you will complete a project based on what you’ve learned. By graduation, all of your projects will be compiled into a portfolio that proves to potential employers you can take on challenges and get things done.
This degree is offered in the Cohort format. This means you will take one course at a time, either online or in class, one night a week. You’ll progress from start to finish with a tight-knit group of peers who each contribute unique professional backgrounds and experiences. And after registering just once, you will have your entire degree plan laid out.
Bellevue University’s Master of Science in Emergency Management will give you the ability to recognize potential hazards, emergencies and disasters. In addition, you will acquire all the tools you need to develop and manage practical, creative solutions for any emerging threat.
Specifically, you will:
- Design emergency plans based on situational characteristics.
- Assess available resources to ensure operational continuity.
- Formulate emergency communications to engage stakeholders.
- Produce a grant proposal aligned with an available funding source.
- Compose a leadership philosophy compatible with personal and legal standards.
With the increasing concern over national security, the demand for emergency management professionals is expanding in both public service and the private sector.
Common jobs for someone with this degree include emergency services manager, emergency management analyst, and disaster response manager. This degree would be beneficial to you if you’re interested in entering the fields of law enforcement, fire fighting, or safety and security within an organization. You may find yourself working in a variety of environments: offices, hospitals, or on location managing different types of emergencies.
