Accounting Degree – Master of Science
With tougher financial regulations and changing financial standards, accountants with a solid understanding of advanced technical accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, and exceptional communication skills are in high demand. Designed to equip you with these skills, Bellevue University’s Master of Science in Accounting degree focuses on the application of accounting to realistic workplace situations. In addition, all courses count toward the 150 credit hours required for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. The Master of Science in Accounting degree will complete all requirements for the CPA exam for most students. Please check with your particular State Board of Accountancy relative to the specific course of study required to sit for the CPA exam.
You will develop skills in advanced cost accounting, accounting theory, auditing, tax, internal accounting and accounting information systems to make you a dynamic, well-rounded senior-level accountant or entrepreneur.
Specifically, you will be able to:
- Apply financial accounting, tax and auditing information to solve relevant issues and problems.
- Effectively communicate essential financial and nonfinancial information to organizational stakeholders.
- Apply strategic and critical thinking to solve problems and develop decisions.

Additionally, you have the option to specialize by adding a finance and/or tax concentration.
With a solid understanding of these skills, you will be able to provide valuable insight into the finances of any organization – and be an indispensible asset to any employer.
Upon graduation, you will be prepared for a career as a professional accountant in public practice, industry, financial institutions, government or nonprofit organizations. It will qualify you to hold positions such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Controller or Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
