Fourth Annual CCC Earth Day Writing Competition, 2010

Wild Things, I Think I Love You
Eligibility
The Earth Day literature competition is a writing contest open to all CCC students and authors living in Nebraska. Entries may be fiction, nonfiction or poetry relevant to this year’s Earth Day theme. Selected entries will be published in an Earth Day special publication.
Submission Information
Entries may be submitted via e-mail to rbuckallew@cccneb.edu, no later than April 2, 2010. Only one entry in each category (fiction, nonfiction, or poetry) may be submitted. Manuscripts must be unpublished, and the authors own original work.
Fiction and nonfiction entries should not exceed 3000 words. Poems should be an original entry in any style, not longer than a single page. Note that entries need to be relevant to earth day theme (see above).
All entries are to be submitted as an attachment in Word or rtf. file. No identifying information except title and page numbers should appear on attached documents. Put Title and identification information in the body of the email, including name, phone number and address. All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form, also as an attachment, which can be downloaded from the CCC website (www.cccneb.edu) or can be obtained by contacting Robin Buckallew.

Reception
All authors are invited to a reception on Sunday April 25, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Phelps Gallery at Central Community College, Hastings, NE. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
Take Part in Star City Blog's First Annual Short Story Contest!
Star City Blog is proud to announce its First Annual Short Story Contest beginning January 17th. Submit a fictional short story following the theme "Survival in Tough Times" and have the chance to win $150. Runners up will win $75 and $50.
The contest will end May 1st, with the winners being announced at a later date.
The Rules
- Judging criteria are inventiveness, creativity and the ability to effortlessly incorporate elements of the theme into the story.
- One entry per person. (Star City Media, LLC employees, contractors and their family members are not eligible.)
- Participants are not limited to the state of Nebraska. Readers in other states may also submit their work of fiction for our consideration.
- Stories must be original, works of fiction and must be 850 words or less. Lines should be double-spaced.
- Star City Blog retains the right to publish the winning stories on our website, after which all rights return to the author.
- The decisions of the editors are final.
- Entries must be the exclusive work of the author. They must be written in English and must not have been published before, or be currently entered in any other competition. Each entry must have a title. Entries which exceed the stated length will be disqualified.
All entries must be submitted in .RTF format. Please use the following standards to submit your entry:
- A. 12 pt. font
- B. Courier New (Absolutely no fancy fonts or font changes.)
- C. 1" margins, all sides
- D. Double Spacing, set as double spaced, no line breaks
