Matt Briggs - Men's Soccer Head Coach
Matt is originally from Lincoln in England. This is where he began his coaching career, working for Lincoln City Football Club in their Center of Excellence. At 20 Matt moved to the US to play Collegiate Soccer at Kansas City Kansas Community College, captaining the team his Sophomore year. After playing two years at KCK he transferred to Hastings College where he reached the NAIA final four. After playing his junior year at Hastings College, Matt came to Bellevue University to finish his collegiate soccer career.
Matt Graduated from Bellevue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with an Emphasis in Human Performance in 2006.
On Richard Belcher:
Richard Belcher begins his first season on the Bruins Coaching Staff as an assistant coach. Richard, is originally from Lincoln, England.
“I am delighted to have Richard on the coaching staff, he will bring plenty of experience to the back room staff after playing for a number of years at a high level in England. His knowledge of the game is extremely high and I am sure he will prove to be an invaluable member of the team.”
On Daniel Galvis:
“I have been very fortunate to work with Daniel for the last 3 years. He is a fantastic goalkeeper coach who has the ability to get the most out of everyone that he works with. He has a tremendous energy and appetite for the game which spills over into his coaching. Daniel is a big reason for the team’s success the last two seasons and he will continue to be a big factor in the development of our team.”
Daniel Galvis - Assistant Men's Socer Coach
Daniel Galvis was born in Mexico City, Mexico but was raised during his childhood in Cali, Colombia. His early soccer development was supervised by Jose Luis Cruz (El Tucumano) in his soccer academy. At the Tucuman Academy, Daniel learned the essence of the game as a part of a talented group, many of which were signed to the Ajax of Amsterdam. Coach Galvis’ goalkeeping education was acquired in El Deportivo Cali by the late Carlos Portela, one the best goalkeeper coaches in Colombia at the time.
Daniel began his collegiate career in 2001 at Union County College in Cranford, NJ where he helped his team to a record of 32-5 in a two year span. Daniel then came to Nebraska and played his final two seasons of eligibility at Bellevue University.
In January of 2005, Daniel was hired onto the Bruin coaching staff to serve as goalkeeper coach. In two seasons on the Bruin staff, Coach Galvis has helped the defense crown a two-time All-Conference and All-Region goalkeeper in Romain Couture. Romain was also a NAIA All-American last season allowing 1.18 goals against average and five shutouts.
Richard Belcher - Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Richard has played at a high standard of non-league football over the past ten years. His coaching background stems from working with youth soccer in Lincolnshire.
Coach Belcher is the son of Genevive and John Belcher. He also has a sister, Delina, who is teaching English in Singapore.
