This page was developed to assist students in understanding the role of Academic Services, the role of the Dean of Students, and to assist you in locating valuable information you will need throughout your educational journey.

Academic Services division is comprised of departments that support Bellevue University students with their academic endeavors.  Academic Advising, Student Resources, Disability Services, Tutoring and Study Skills, Career Services, Housing, Student Activities, the Test Center and Library Services.  As a University team, Academic Services provides Orientation, virtual services (virtual librarian and academic advising), early warning services, and coordinates graduation.

The student handbook is a document developed for Bellevue University students to use as a guide to follow through out their academic career. It addresses issues concerning: academic advising, student disability services, conduct, judiciary and discipline procedures, support services and so on. Copies of the BU Student Handbook are available to students online, during New Student Orientation, administrative offices at all sites and from Academic Advisors.

The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 and subsequent legislation require an institution of higher education (IHE) to abide by the regulations to be eligible to receive funds or any other form of financial assistance under any Federal program, including participation in any federally funded or guaranteed student loan program.  Graduation

The Graduation Commencement Ceremony is a celebration of Bellevue University students' completion of their degree and major programs. There are two ceremonies offered each year to students. The Winter Commencement Ceremony is in January and the Spring Commencement Ceremony is in June. To participate in the ceremony, students are required to order a cap and gown by coming to the campus during measurement week(s), or by filling out the "Commencement Ceremony Reservation" form in BRUIN, e-Services.

Graduation Honors

Graduation honors to be acknowledged at graduation ceremonies are estimated as of November 30, for the Winter ceremony and April 15, for the Spring ceremony. Completed and coursework in progress, on those dates, are considered for the estimated honors. Official honors, to be posted to diplomas and academic transcripts, are determined during the final graduation audit. Final in residence credit hours and GPA calculations are considered for final honors (see Honors-Undergraduate in the university catalog for honors criteria.) Minimum requirements: 60 credit hours earned at BU with a 3.60 GPA.

Dean of Students

The Dean of Students acts as a disciplinary officer, upholds academic policy regarding a student's academic progress, operates the early warning system, enforces suspensions, addresses admission exceptions, hears appeals for suspension, admission, graduation applications, grade appeals and addresses customer service concerns.
