  1. What can a student do with the degree?


  2. Graduates of the undergraduate Leadership Program at Bellevue University will have gained skills and knowledge that enhance their ability to lead in their chosen field, whatever it may be. Furthermore, they will be more likely to distinguish themselves as leaders and to advance more rapidly in their careers. Because good leadership is in demand in every organization, graduates of the leadership program are uniquely positioned, for what they have learned about leadership will be universally prized and desired.

  3. What can students expect to learn in the program?
    The Leadership Program examines leadership in a variety of contexts-historical, ethical, political, professional, psychological, emotional, personal, and organizational. In all contexts, students are exposed to relevant theories about leadership and are asked to reflect upon their own experience leading and being led. Through various assignments, students analyze the nature of leadership in order to learn to lead more effectively in their personal, professional, and civic lives.

    These assignments include at least some of the following:

    • Case study analyses of successful leaders in the past and the present.
    • Original research into topics of interest in leadership.
    • Creation of a capstone paper to share findings and insights from original research.
    • Application of leadership theories to relevant situations in the students' personal and professional lives.
    • Coaching of classmates in the completion of team projects.
    • Discussion of key ethical issues involving leadership.

    Students can expect to learn:

    • How to collaborate effectively in teams.
    • How to lead team members by using legitimate methods of influence.
    • How to follow responsibly and effectively.
    • How to learn through an honest process of self-assessment.
    • How to think critically about all topics, especially about topics related to the nature, role, and requirements of leadership.
    • How to solve problems and make decisions ethically.
    • How to communicate ideas and emotions usefully in writing and speech.
    • How to provide vision and motivate change when necessary.
