Since the classes and projects foster development in individual and team environments, the graduate has the advantage of being able to work in diversified settings throughout the Information Technology industry. The practical knowledge gained from the program provides a foundation of Information Technology skill sets that can be expanded and refined in web site development, network management, programming, systems analysis, project management, ecommerce, or any number of fields within the industry.

    The Internet Systems Software Technology (ISST) program is designed to provide a comprehensive study of the Information Technology industry. Students become Information Technology practitioners through the intensive use of electronic tools and techniques, which reinforce business and technical concepts for immediate applicability in the real world. A variety of assignments and techniques are used to promote critical thinking and direct application of course material.

    Some examples of these assignments and techniques include:

    • Web site development projects, which incorporate Human Computer Interface Guidelines, web-based programming concepts, and technical skills associated with creating, posting, and maintaining a web site.
    • Installation, configuration, and operation of both Microsoft and Unix operating systems.
    • Increased understanding of available programming techniques to support Internet-based business functionality.
    • Participation in an Information Technology business project, applying business principles and project management techniques to address Information Technology business issues.

    • How to evaluate web site development in terms of user-center design and technological and business applicability.
    • How to apply practical knowledge of operating systems to a work environment.
